Actress Anne Heche was seriously injured in a burning car crash into a house in Mar Vista on Friday, sources told NBCLA.
The accident was reported shortly before 11 am in the 1700 block of South Walgrove Avenue, said Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Police said the driver was speeding down a residential street and went 30 feet toward a house. The Mini Cooper involved in the accident was speeding and possibly hit a curb before launching more than two feet across the front yard and toward the house.
The homeowner was in the backyard at the time of the accident and was not injured.
A neighbor described what he saw after that driver was rescued.
“The house was full of smoke. I think they used the tow truck to move the car and get the driver out. It was crazy.”
Humphrey said the car stopped inside a 738-square-foot, two-story house that was built in 1952.
The accident caused a structural compromise and a fire, Humphrey said.
“It took 65 minutes for fifty-nine firefighters to access, confine and fully extinguish the stubborn flames inside the severely damaged structure, and rescue an adult female found inside the vehicle, who was taken to an area hospital by LAFD paramedics in critical condition,” said Humphrey.
