Actress and former “Dancing With the Stars” contestant Anne Heche has been involved in a serious car accident, according to TMZ.
The outlet reported on August 5, 2022, that Heche suffered “serious burns” in the accident. The accident, according to TMZ, took place in Los Angeles on Friday, August 5. She was taken away by ambulance after the accident.
At the time of the accident, TMZ reports that Heche was driving a blue Mini Cooper that crashed into an apartment complex garage, the outlet reports.
The actress ‘went full speed ahead’ after the accident, according to TMZ
According to witness statements obtained by TMZ, Heche “went full speed ahead” after the accident. The car then crashed into a nearby house, which the outlet reported started a fire. The fire “engulfed the house”.
Photos obtained by TMZ appear to show firefighters on the roof of the house putting out the flames. The outlet also reports that “there is a bottle with a red cap in the cup holder next to the gear lever, and it looks like a bottle of alcohol.”
At the time of this writing, the extent of Heche’s injuries is unknown, although TMZ reports that she is in the hospital and intubated, but is expected to recover.
Heche participated in the 29th season of ‘Dancing With the Stars’
Heche was a cast member during the 29th season of “Dancing With the Stars.”
She said after the show that she had a five-week contract during her time there.
On an episode of Jason Tartick’s podcast “Trading Secrets,” Heche discussed what she experienced on the show.
The podcast episode, called “The Financial Risk of Being a Working Actor and Moving the Needle on LGBTQ+ Rights with Emmy Award Winner Anne Heche and Heather Duffy,” was posted on Monday, November 1, 2021.
“What happened the night of ‘Dancing With the Stars’… if I had gone to another dance, I would have made thousands of dollars more,” Heche said on the episode. “And what they did was they stopped the original contract, which was for five weeks, and they fired me before I could make any more money.”
She added: “That, to me, was one of the most shocking things. People saw that they made me angry, which seemed like an accident, nobody understood what was going on, there was a little ruckus.
The “fuss” you mentioned refers to the show’s season 29 episode when Tyra Banks announced the last two wrong teams and had to lead Heche and her partner back to the ballroom after previously announcing that they were safe.
“The fact that I was rejected prevented me from earning more money financially in the competition,” Heche concluded.
According to reports at the time, Heche stormed off the set of “Dancing With the Stars” when she was eliminated. Page Six specifically reported that Heche stormed off and did not speak to members of the press who were waiting for her.
She later told Page Six that she was upset that she had spoken about her LGBTQ+ journey during the episode, and it hurt that she was rejected earlier that day.
Season 31 of “Dancing With the Stars” will premiere on Disney+ on Monday, September 19, 2022. Derek Hough, Len Goodman, Bruno Tonioli and Carrie Ann Inaba will return along with Tyra Banks and new co-host Alfonso Ribeiro.
